The 2009 MTV Music Awards took place at Radio City Music Hall and all over New York City; it was as always unpredictable and energetic. Janet Jackson opened the show by paying tribute to her brother. As Taylor Swift won the first award for “Best Female Video” Kanye West stormed the stage protesting in support of Beyonce. Taylor came back later in the show performing in the New York City subway and on top of a yellow cab in the streets. The show continued with a performance by Lady Gaga who won for “Best New Artist”, whose performance earlier in the night included masquerade ball and fake blood. The rest of the evening was dominated by controversy, and stellar performances from Beyonce, Pink, Muse, and Jay-Z who closed the night with Alicia Keys. Check below for our comprehensive coverage of the entire night including the best moments from the red carpet, show, press room, and come back tomorrow for all the after party.
