Without a show or the usual parade of A-list stars, the Golden Globes settled for a brief news conference Sunday night to announce the winners of the 65th awards. The 65th Annual Golden Globes ceremony is one of many casualties of the ongoing Writer's Guild strike, which has claimed a smattering of television programs and shut down a few major movie productions. No big winner emerged with the awards announcement, as the trophies were spread out across a variety of films. "Atonement" picked up the ultimate prize - Best Picture (Drama) - while "Sweeney Todd" won for Best Picture (Musical or Comedy) and Best Actor (Musical or Comedy) for Johnny Depp. Julian Schnabel was the surprise Best Director winner for "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly", and the Actress trophies went to Julie Christie of "Away From Her" and Marion Cotillard of "La vie en rose". Javier Bardem ("No Country for Old Men") and Cate Blanchett ("I'm Not There") won the Supporting awards.
