The GRAMMY Awards are always a huge event, but expectations were in the stratosphere for the ceremony's 50th anniversary. To say those lofty goals were met is a severe understatement - filled with terrific performances, touching speeches, and a major upset in a big category, the 50th GRAMMYS were a rousing success. The night featured iconic live sets from Rihanna with the reformed Time, Beyonce & Tina Turner, Kanye West, Little Richard & Jerry Lee Lewis, Alicia Keys (once with John Mayer, once alongisde a haunting video of Frank Sinatra), Cirque du Soleil and the cast of "Across the Universe," Amy Winehouse via satellite from London, and many more. Winehouse was one of the night's biggest winners, taking home trophies for Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, and writing and recording honors for Record of the Year "Rehab." The night's big shock came at the ceremony's conclusion, when Herbie Hancock beat out decided frontrunners Winehouse and Kanye West for Album of the Year. The legendary jazz artist won for his Joni Mitchell tribute album "River: The Joni Letters."
