Running With Scissors

Based on the popular memoir by Augusten Burroughs, "Running With Scissors" is a quirky coming-of-age tale that brings to mind the films of Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach. Young Augusten (Joseph Cross) is made to live with his dysfunctional parents' psychiatrist (Brian Cox) after they decide they are unfit to raise him. Unfortunately, the shrink's family is even more bizarre than his own, leading to a novel-worthy series of misadventures. Golden Globe nominee Annette Bening is superb as Augusten's mother, and the terrific supporting cast includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Evan Rachel Wood, Alec Baldwin, and Joseph Fiennes.
